In this follow-up class to our beginner’s public speaking class, students use their acquired speaking skills to engage in two-on-two debates on kid-friendly subjects. Students are given a point of view to defend on questions such as “Should teachers give homework” and “Are All-Boys or All-Girls schools a good idea?” Students make arguments and rebut the presentations of their opponents. A panel of students vote on which team made the best case. Students also write news stories, entertainment reviews and editorials to compile a TV News broadcast that we record and share with families. We also critique the speaking style of historic presidential candidates and TED talk presenters and play public speaking games to help perfect our own styles.

Refund Policy
If you withdraw from a program at anytime prior to two weeks before the program start date, you will receive an account credit good towards other Parks and Recreation programs. Account credits do not expire. Account credit will not be issued if the cancellation takes places within two weeks of the program start date. Cancellations due to a medical emergency will have the option to receive an account credit or a refund at anytime with proper medical documentation. If a program is cancelled by Parks and Recreation, you will have the option to receive an account credit or a refund for that program.
